DAY 10 Agadir

08 December 2005

A late start, with breakfast of the usual in a nearby café. The day was spent down at the beach, Ol and Andy went horse riding whilst I decided to be lazy, read an English newspaper and drink coffee. We agreed to meet up again at the hotel, and on the way back I unintentionally took a tour of the town searching for it.

For dinner we hoped to go to the fishing port for some fresh fish, but unfortunately we only had a very vague idea of where it was and should have take a taxi. The result was that we instead ended up at the end of the main road running parallel to the beach. After two false starts we ended up in a licensed restuarant that wasn't too expensive. Determined to still eat fish by the sea I had John Dory in a pepper sauce, delicious. Taking into account the drinks with the meal, the rest of the evening turned into a bit of an alcohol trawl through Agadir.

Next stop was the unpromisingly named ‘English Pub’, though at least it was possible to sit outside on a veranda. Then it was a total change of scene, cocktails in the bar of a fancy hotel called Hotel Anezi. Walking out onto the street afterwards we were unlucky enough to bump into Hassan again, and after a hurried hello left him again as soon as possible. However we very foolishly ended up back in The Pub, and after a couple of drinks Hassan came in and sat on the table next to us. We managed to avoid buying his drinks, but end up feeding him a continuous supply of cigarettes. Somehow (nothing to do with beer) Hassan convinced us to go on to a nightclub, though naturally we were asked to pay him in. The club was pretty big with a central dance floor, full of girls of dubious repute, and sold extortionately expensive and small beers. Managed to get home by taxi around 3am.
